Registered Nurse Competency-based Curriculum: Pressure Ulcer Prevention

The purpose of the Registered Nurse Competency-based Curriculum: Pressure Ulcer Prevention is to help nurses and other clinicians develop registered nurse educational programs about pressure ulcer prevention. Education is foundational for pressure ulcer prevention; it is used to initially develop, reinforce, and update knowledge. The curriculum is based on the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel and European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, Prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers: Clinical practice guideline (2009). Practitioners/educators may use all or part of the curriculum to match their educational program’s goals. The Registered Nurse Competency-based Curriculum: Pressure Ulcer Prevention (2013) includes major competencies, content objectives, content topics, suggestions for varied teaching methods, and references.
