Pressure Ulcers and Treatment Among Individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries

Pressure Ulcers and Treatment Among Individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries
This October 16, 2014 webinar was presented by Margaret Goldberg, RN, MSN, CWOCN and Karin Zachow, MD, CWS. Over a lifetime, more than 60% of patients with spinal cord injury report developing a pressure ulcer. With improvements in care, a spinal cord injury no longer dictates a shortened life span but complications of pressure ulcers are still a cause of significant morbidity and mortality. Prevention involves more expansive considerations than in other high risk populations. Treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach. This Webinar explores the social and physiologic aspects of primary and secondary pressure ulcer prevention and treatment.
