NPUAP is a scientific partner with the Institutes for HealthCare
Improvement on the 5 million lives campaign!

The NPUAP is formally collaborating with the IHI to support the various
interventions through evidence-based reviews and updates to their
Getting Started Kits, sharing our expertise on national calls and web
conferences, and working closely with their faculty to ensure IHI is
aware of the latest improvement initiatives and evidence. NPUAP's partnership
will be acknowledged on the IHI open office hours, website, and other
national forums.

NPUAP will host the World Union

NPUAP is a hosting society of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies meeting. In conjunction with the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP), the updated guidelines on the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers will be introduced at this meeting! Please plan now to attend the WUWHS meeting in June of 2008 in Toronto to dialogue with NPUAP and EPUAP about the guidelines and learn about wound care world wide! For more information, see

NPUAP to testify about the upcoming changes in the 707 ICD-9 Code

CMS is planning to change the payment processes for pressure ulcers in October. Pressure ulcers present on admission will qualify for a higher reimbursement as long as the presence of s stage III or IV ulcer is noted in the record within 2 days. Pressure ulcers occurring after that time will not be eligible for additional money. NPUAP will testify in favor of this ruling and provide input on the revisions needed for the ICD-9 codes.
