NPUAP Research Award Grants


This grant provides seed money in the amount of $1,500 to a novice researcher of any health care or basic science discipline.  It is awarded at the biennial NPUAP Consensus Conference. The next NPUAP Consensus Conference will be February 25-26, 2005.

The first grant was awarded at the NPUAP Fifth National Conference on February 8, 1997 in Arlington, VA.  Cathy Baldwin, PhD, RN, CETN, CCRN of the University of Utah College of Nursing in Salt Lake City, UT accepted the award at the conference.  Dr. Baldwin investigated physiological measures of  pressure ulcer risk prediction.   An additional grant was awarded at the Sixth National NPUAP Conference  in Orlando, FL on February 27, 1999.  Sue Gardner, PhD, RN from the University of Iowa has recently completed her investigation of clinical indicators of pressure ulcer infection. The 2001 NPUAP Research Award grant was sent to Diane J. Yastrub, RN, BSN, MSN, CS, FNP.
