Over a decade ago, the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel set a goal of reducing pressure ulcer incidence by 50% by the year 2000. HAVE WE MET THIS CHALLENGE???? NPUAP has appointed a task force, chaired by Carrie Sussman, PT, to research the status of pressure ulcer prevalence and incidence in the USA. The task force has completed an extensive literature review for the past ten years. It has synthesized as well as analzyed the research on prevalence and incidence in the new NPUAP monograph, "Pressure Ulcers in America: Prevalence, incidence, and implications for the Future". This monograph of about 200 pages includes summaries of the findings as well as evidence tables and trending graphs.
