RE: New Consumer Survey to Inform the 2019 International Guideline

The National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) announces a new online Consumer Survey designed to solicit “the voice of the patient”.   The Consumer Survey will provide critical information to inform the 2019 revision of Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Ulcers/Injuries: Clinical Practice Guideline.

Systematic literature reviews and evidence appraisals are well underway as the NPUAP works with its international partners, the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) and Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Alliance (PPPIA) to incorporate new evidence into the third edition of our international guideline.

To ensure we are addressing the needs of the patients and families we serve, we are asking individuals (and their caregivers) who have experienced a pressure injury/pressure ulcer (or worked to prevent one) to share their knowledge, preferences and values in an anonymous survey.  The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete.  It is available online in English, German, French, Mandarin, Arabic, Korean, Japanese, and Thai or as a paper copy in English.

If you are a health care provider, member of a professional organization or consumer organization, we would appreciate your assistance in identifying potential survey participants for this IRB approved survey.

A recruitment flyer can be downloaded HERE and shared with potential participants.

The ethical aspects of this research have been approved by the ANU Human Research Ethics Committee (Protocol 2018/66). In addition, a waiver has been granted by the US Department of Veterans Affairs Institutional Review Board (IRB). If you have problems or complaints about this survey, please refer to the survey website for full information about risks, benefits and confidentiality.
